Our thematic programmes have been devised through ten years of pedagogical good practice, experience and collaboration of senior teachers through action research in our schools, who have developed an understanding of meaningful learning in the classroom. The curriculum for Junior and Middle school provides learners with a holistic approach to learning that helps them make connections between the different learning areas. The curriculum is designed to reflect our ethos with a strong Islamic element and holistic approach that naturally ties in with ‘personalised learning’ through our human-scale structure.
Our creative thematic curriculum allows children to learn using holistic, interdisciplinary links and ways, whilst enabling them to retain knowledge and learn in a flexible, yet organised manner. Although the nature of our thematic curriculum may vary from each classroom and each theme, the ability to teach individual children what they need to know and reach personal milestones remains present. What is important is that the children can understand the links we make when we see ourselves and the world as being interrelated to one another.
In line with our principle of Halaqah, our students gather daily in a dialogic reflective circle to think about, discuss and reflect on Islamic teachings and what these mean for their shakhsiyah and for their life.
Our principle of Balaghah is integrated in our Qur’ānic Arabic Programme, for our young learners to understand, value and study the language in which the Qur’ān was revealed.
Maths for early years aims to lay a strong foundation for future mathematical learning by fostering curiosity, confidence, and a positive attitude towards mathematics.
Thematic curriculum is an educational approach that organises learning around specific themes or topics, rather than focusing on individual subjects.
Shakhsiyah Schools unique ACDT curriculum encompasses a diverse array of arts, crafts, and design and technology experiences. The curriculum engages, inspires, and challenges children, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to explore existing works of art and design while creating their own inside and outside the classroom.
English for Early years seeks to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where young learners can develop a strong foundation in the English language.
Knowledge and Understanding of the World in early years education promotes children's natural curiosity and helps them develop a sense of awe and wonder about the world.
Our physical education fosters confidence, control, coordination and physical fitness. Junior and Middle School children have sessions with specialist teachers. They develop flexibility, strength, technique, control, balance, self-confidence, and self-defence skills and engage in team sports. In Slough, students attend the IMAS Centre for P.E lessons, integrating Wing Chun-based martial arts for comprehensive physical development.
